Annual Mathlympics

Annual Mathlympics for All Singapore Primary Schools (Annual Mathlympics) by Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) is opened to all students enrolled in Primary 4 and 5 in the local schools. Topics will include Arithmetic, Number Theory, Combinatorics, Logic, Geometry, Measurement and Algebra.

The competition consists of two rounds:

Preliminary Round

Format of the Paper in the Preliminary Round:
Consists of only the Vault Event comprising 28 questions.

Duration: 1½ hours.

Marks are allotted as follows:
Questions 1 to 10: 2 marks each
Questions 11 to 20: 4 marks each
Questions 21 to 28: 5 marks each

Use of calculators is NOT ALLOWED.

Final Round

Only the top 25% participants or the top 500 participants, whichever is lower, will qualify to compete for the awards of Gold, Silver and Bronze in the Final Round.

Format of the Paper in the Finals:

a) Vault Event
Duration: 1½ hours. 28 questions.
Marks are allotted as follows:
Questions 1 to 10: 2 marks each
Questions 11 to 20: 4 marks each
Questions 21 to 28: 5 marks eachb)

b) Sprint Event

Duration: ½ hour. 30 questions.
Each question carries 1 mark. Marks will be awarded for correct answers only.
Participants will be provided with Casio calculators for use in both events.

Marks will be awarded for correct answers only. There will be no deduction of marks for error or omissions for both the Preliminary Round and the Finals. All decisions made by the organizers and judges will be final.

Prizes

Gold Award Medals and Certificates will be awarded to the top 20% of the finalists.
Silver Award Certificates will be awarded to the next 25% of the finalists.
Bronze Award Certificates will be awarded to the remaining finalists.
Certificate of Merit will be awarded to finalists who were absent from the Final Round.
All other participants will be awarded the Certificate of Participation.

Schools will be ranked according to the tally of gold, silver and bronze awards, in that order, obtained by their pupils. The top 3 schools will receive trophies and cash awards.
The top 3 schools, not including the 3 schools already receiving prizes, with the highest medal count will each receive a School Distinction Trophy for the school.

Champion School: $1000 in cash, 1 trophy for the school and the Challenge Trophy
1st Runner-Up: $500 in cash, 1 trophy for the school
2nd Runner-Up: $400 in cash, 1 trophy for the school

School Distinction: Top 3 schools (excluding Champion and Runner-Up schools) with the highest medal count, 1 School Distinction Trophy for each school.
The Champion School shall keep the Challenge Trophy and shall return it to Learners’ Connections Pte Ltd for the next competition. The Challenge Trophy shall be kept permanently by the school, which emerges champion in three consecutive competitions.

Individual Prizes will be awarded to the overall top 3 participants, in addition to the top 3 participants of each of the 4 school zones.
